HAPPY 231ST BIRTHDAY
TO THE
UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS!!!
"Oooooo-rah!"

When you hear a certain song, does it make you stop and think? Perhaps reminisce, or maybe think of one particular person? Hearing a song and really listening to lyrics ever make you just stop what you're doing? Just to listen?
Some words in songs make me think of the world situation. Other song lyrics make me think of my parents. Others my immediate family. Yet again, some lyrics make me remember a certain time in my own life. Yesterday, since we bought the DVD Cars, I watched it for the 2nd time already, since I'm really not much on television programming these days.
I promised myself I am not gonna do any climbing on ladders, or handle a paint brush, or a mop...nothing, nada, zilch in activity. So, when we came back from watching the live filming of a special World War II documentary on the attack of USS Lexington in the harbor here, near the ships' channel of our port...and walking around a while for some fresh air ---there was such a wonderful, brisk breeze of the gulf, I didn't want to go home right away!---anyway, when we got home, after talking to my kitties and telling them just how wonderful and beautiful they are, I stretched out on the floor and popped in the movie.
We had seen it with our son in Houston the first time last summer, and I failed to see the ending credits. Well, as I laid there watching the complete video...from beginning to end....a song is being played!
And it made me think of times of my life. How I've felt in the past, what it's like making friends; my goals when I was young and innocent. What I've done, who I married...fate!! But ya know? --I see myself now as nothing close to what I thought I would be...someone else. But yet, I couldn't be happier with who I am!! It just hit me a certain way today and I wanted to share the lyrics.....
Artist: Brad Paisley
Song: Find Yourself
(of course the feminine reference is changed in my mind to the masculine! LOL)
When you find yourself
In some far off place,
And it causes you
To rethink some things.
You start to sense
That slowly you're becoming someone else
And then you find yourself.
When you make new friends
In a brand new town,
And you start to think
About settling down,
The things that would have been lost on you
Are now clear as a bell.
And you find yourself
That's when you find yourself.
Well you go through life
So sure of where you're heading,
And you wind up lost
And it's the best thing that could happen.
'Cause sometimes when you lose your way
It's really just as well.
'Cause you find yourself;
That's when you find yourself.
When you meet the one
You've been waiting for,
And she's everything
That you want and more,
You look at her
And you finally start
To live for someone else.
And then you find yourself;
That's when you find yourself.
We go though life
So sure of where we're heading,
And then we wind up lost
And it's the best thing that could happen.
Sometimes when you lose your way
It's really just as well.
Because you find yourself;
Yeah that's when you find yourself.

Just went to Carol's site to check that out and that is great. No wonder people had a time TRUSTING first in this CRAZY world of ours!! I love hugs!! GREAT!! The song is nice also. I know you dont understand but when I was LOST I knew in time where to go and that is when I gave my life to Jesus!! I have not been LOST since!! Have a great Friday, Wystful...Sandy
Thanks for stopping by my blog... please come back! I love the color thing too at Carol's site, like a rainbow! The hugs just may be the answer to a lot of the worlds problems. I agree... share them openly... that would be a blessing indeed!
What a beautiful song! Like you, there are songs in my life that bring back memories...most happy ones. *s*
Thank you for visiting today & for adding me to your blogroll. *wink*
Oh, the baby was a newborn...the pregnancy crisis center estimated that his momma was about 8 months along when he was born...the authorities are assuming murder at this point but I guess they will know for sure with autopsy...maybe.
I already called my dad (a proud former Marine) to wish him a Happy Marine Corps Birthday! I've never seen anyone else mention it before.
Thank you, dear Wystful, for the plug. You are too kind.
I know this Brad Paisley's song. It's one of my faves.
It's so easy to be uncaring and unkind. Let's start a new tradition and be nice to one another for a change!
It's so nice to meet some of your special blogging buddies too!
Have a lovely day!
Thanks so much for recognizing the Marines birthday! My son was over in both Afghanistand and Iraq and we are so proud of him but forever grateful that he is home and is safe now. :)
Love the words to the song very powerful in that we all need to find ourselves. A little act of kindness goes a long way! ((hugs))
Today I have decided to try and visit one new blog listed on Blogging Chicks. Yours is the first, and how happy I am to have read your post today. It is amazing how powerful music can be...and how a certain song can take you back to a place in time that can so vividly be recalled.
We have many friends in the Marines, some home safely and some still serving in Iraq. Thank you for remembering them.
