Ahhhhhh, today is the first day of October. This month is my all time favorite month for so many reasons!
Cooler temperatures at night, change of foilage, clearer skies, the rustle of leaves blowing in the wind, crisp air during the day, the fall fashions (sweaters and lightweight jackets), the odors of outdoors and inside with pumpkin scents along with decorating the house. Getting ready for------ Yes, Halloween! (And, soon the two holiday seasons of Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here) But, this whole month my blog will be of Halloween things. Memories, crafts, recipes, decorations, poetry, things like that! So....
Beware!!
Today, I have a couple of things. Y'all know or recognize the description of the 'tree-top' santas or angels, right? The conical shaped bodies? Well, I've never seen witches like that - years ago that is (I see a few of them here and there now-but not when I wanted them.)! In fact, I made two.
I went to Michaels when we lived in Tucson, Arizona, and found the hard plastic cone shapes, went to the doll section there and found some old faces and hand body parts...plastic of course (we'll leave the real stuff to criminals and the like---*witch's cackles*). And just scrap pieces of black velvet, 1/2 yard of halloween print materials, a bag of black spiders and extra thin purple ribbon. Oh ya...and some mesh witchs' hats. Miniature sized, of course.
With hot glue and the material, I molded and crafted for days! (Hubby cleaned off two scraps of dowel from his workshop and stained them. Then, along with tree branch twigs sprinkled in glitter, I made the brooms!)
Here they both are. (click on each individual witch for enlargement) The small candle 'tea lights' in front of them flicker and are battery operated for a little over a dollar each.
Tomorrow? Who knows what evil lurks in the heart of Wystful.....Muahhahahahahaha!!!!

Congratulations ! they really look great your witches. Since a maybe 3 or 4 years this tradition came also at least to Waterloo, as we have a lot of english and americans living here. The first year the belgians were so surprised to see the children in their "horrible" outfit asking for sweets. They didn't know that. And I honestly have to admit I only knew about that because of my american aunt, when she told me how many children had rung at her door !
This iis a great blog
