In a Wal Mart parking lot, I found this penny face down and walked by it leaving it there on the asphalt, 'cause I could see that no one would accept it - not even a bank, it's way too damaged. THEN!! I thought...hmmm, this one would be great for Saturday's theme. So, I put my purchases in the trunk, and did my little beeper, locking everything up again...walked back and examined it. I had a perfect photo op for Saturday. I picked it up, brought it home and snapped away. (Even thinking about making it a charm of some sort) Here it is.......

Well good! I was totally stuped this week and too tired to do it. I know, bad me. I'll be back next week!
It pays off to keep our eyes open!!! great shot of the damaged coin. Happy saturday!
Good you found it. Your post makes it very unique.
I love it...glad you went back after it!! Looks so cool.
I'm up too.
How on earth did they get that damaged???? Getting me really curious there. Never seen anything like it.
Boy I tell you...you are always on top of it with these Saturday photos I will have to think about this one. Right now I cannot come up with one...but I might. I have a full Saturday ahead of me. But you never know...have a great day..Sandy
what a great symbol for global warming! Man!
Thanks for visiting :-)
Wow, I would have never thought to do that. Great idea and photo. I had to "borrow" and idea.
that's really good. there is some crazy story on how it got so damaged, that's for sure.
Funny how spotting penny on the ground can lead to this, isn't it? Great story and photos.
Wystful,
What an interesting shot! See - I always tell people it pays to look down on the ground- LOL!!
BTW, my hubby tells me you should be able to take penny to any bank and they have to give you a new coin. Same with paper money. If you have half of a paper bill, a bank would have to give you an ENTIRE new one. I learned something new, too!
Great photo!
PS. Mine is up!
LOL .. looks like a dog chomped on it for a bit. Or it landed on something really, really hot and started to melt?
Either way, very unusual. And it WOULD make an interesting charm.
Enjoy the weekend
I like your two cents worth on this one!
That penny has been through a lot. Don't you wonder what happened to it?
Happy Hunting and thanks for stopping by mine.
Interesting penny- what has it been thru!
Gee whiz! What ever happened to those pennies. Poor thing.
Thanks for dropping by.
I fully expected to come here and find a picture of your TWO cents! But really it's only ONE. LOL! I wonder what the heck HAPPEND to it... that penny has a history! Very cool! Quick thinking!
That is very interesting from a forensics point of view. How in the world did it get so damaged? Hmmmm. WWGD which is What would Grissom Do?
Thanks for stopping by my place this am. I was composing my post for today when you popped in. It's up now when you get a chance. Pam
You are right. It is perfect and so unique. I love it. I think it is the best I have seen so far because of hwo origional it is.
I am up now too.
That's a very cool picture: See what you would've missed without the Hunt? I wonder what happened to that poor thing.
Oh, I'd love to know what happened to that penny.
Good eyes.
Wow....what a penny! Great idea in picking it up and taking a photo. Poor little penny...wonder what happened to it?
What an interesting coin you have there - almost looks like acid got to it? Maybe car battery acid leaked on it or something. It sure has left us a lot to comment on for something that *how many people* must have walked past. And LOL - I tried to pick the nicest money I could find for my pic! ROFL
Very cool! Imagine the story it could tell!
Thanks for stopping by mine :)
You can really see that our "coppers" are not "coppers" anymore!
;-)
you are always on top of it with these Saturday photos I will have to think about this one. Right now I cannot come up with one...
My kids help with mine - they really get into it!
Oh my.... the parking lot was so hot it melted the penny!
If only pennies could talk!!
I'd love to know what happened to it!
wow! yes I know some more coins like that. It's so amazing they can get that used. MY fav which I kept throughout my teens was a quarter with a hole in it.
thanks for the visit and the wonderful comment. Made my day! :)
Wow, how did it get that bad. How hot has it been in Texas? It looks like it's melting! Great idea.
That was me not annonymous...
That poor penny has been through the ringer hasn't it? Makes you wonder what made it so damaged.
Happy Saturday!
That is pretty cool - Good job keeping your eye out for little things like that! How interesting though, I wonder how it got to be SO damaged?
Thanks for visiting my pic!
What a great art project to sketch/interpret the symbolic meaning of that penny.....I love how opportunity presents itself like it did for you! The same thing happened to me...I came across my 2002 bill just last night. Until then, I was pondering how in the world I was going to post a picture about money....I love serendipitous moments!
those look like they've had some history. thanks for visiting! ;)
Nice take on the theme.
I'd love to know how it all happened.
My pic is up.
Take care,
Frances
I see that money just melts through your hands....
Seriously, great picture and clever take on the theme.
Way to Go! Great pics! That unusual penny was waiting for you! I love it when God winks!!
Wow! Did this penny get hit by a train? How would a penny get so beaten up like that? It's very cool looking though. Great photo op!
Wow! THat is really cool! :) I played too. :)
This is my first visit to your blog. I have enjoyed my visit.
You sound like me going back adn pickign up a penny so you can blog about it. I am always looking for something different to blog about.
I am glad that you did you back and picked up for today's theme :)...
Great idea for this weeks theme. Poor mangled penny. It almost looks like it got ground up and melted.
Thanks for your visit. :)

Very cool!!
I am so curious how the penny got that damaged.. Oh if that penny could talk I bet we would hear some pretty wild stories.
How on earth did it get that way? Not sure if it melted or was cut and melted. Pretty unique.
Great theme pick!
that is a cool shot, :)
i would make it into a necklace!
thanks for stopping by!
have a great weekend!
It's the little things...that can tell a story, and man-o-man...I sure wish I could hear this little penny talk! Great photo and glad you went back to retrieve it, would make a nice charm.
Have a great weekend!
Poor penny. It's been through the wringer literally.
I cannot imagine what wouldhappen to that penny to give it the amont of damage it has! Good for you for rescuing it!
It looks very well spent! Great shot. You will have to show it later as a necklace if you do that!
I played too!
O WOW!!! It's melted! Great photo! :o)
Better late than never, huh? Well, I'm here now, finally...
Some coin... it really has gone through some serious stuff!
Wow. That poor penny. :)
It reminds me of the episode of The Andy Griffith Show where one of Opie's friends (Johnny Paul, I think) gave him a gnarled up penny. It had been run over by a train & Johnny Paul said that a penny that had been run over by a train was good luck. :)
Thanks for coming over to check out my photo. :)
