....speaking of movies, I was an extra in one BIG hit movie. And a made for TV movie. The TV movie is still being aired on Lifetime, starring Pam Dawber and Beau Bridges -- A Stranger to Love. I'm right there on the TV screen in one shot, and some of my online friends have seen me. LOL Tho I never had a chance to get any photos of the celebs I did get a group picture of the ones that were also extras at the same table. Filmed in Arizona at Rancho de la Osa
Then, the BIG hit movie, Tin Cup I was in also. We had one day where we were allowed cameras, and tho I never got a chance to get my picture taken with Mr. C because he only allowed a few minutes of his time -- I did get pictures of others. I have some great memories and momentoes. Along with one great item that I brought with me one day...a T - shirt. I took a plain t-shirt and carried a black marker. When and while I had a chance I got crew's signatures and also some of the great friends I made (other extras) to sign my t-shirt. I was brave enough to follow Kevin after the day's shooting to get his autograph on the shirt also!! I can say I had the privilege of meeting all these people. It was fun and a great experience. But I didn't appreciate having a 'curtain call' at 6 a.m. for 5 days!! That meant I had to get up around 3:30 a.m -- shower, get dressed and drive about 50 - 60 miles to the set in Tubac Arizona.
Reneé R is one super nice lady! She starred as Mr. C's love interest. Cheech M. always has been one of my favorite people. He's so cool....and he signed my t-shirt with "High Wystful(my real name, tho)"....not "Hi" but HIGH!! Gotta love it. But Don J was a bit aloof really. First day he was there, he was late!!! And believe it or not, he showed up in a helicopter!!! And another disappointing part for me was getting up close to Mr. J...he was wearing makeup so thick it was 'cakey'. Reneé, tho make up on....was a natural beauty and the make up was VERY minimal. As with Cheech and Kevin. What a shame he (D. J.) was a bit phony -- around everyone, he's definitely not a people person. AND the helicopter picked him up each day also, without any acknowledgment to even the other celebrities. (Thing is, he really wasn't the leading man either.)
I could go on and on with gossip - like driving home on the interstate between AZ and Old Mexico right beside K's limo and where the limo turned off --that will always keep my lips sealed. Anyway, I digress. Here are some photos of everything I just mentioned:
From Top left:
1) this is Don J. on his way toward the helicopter
2) Me and Cheech M. (My hair was done up by the stylist...so don't say anything!)
3) This is the newspaper 'casting call for try outs'
4) Reneé R. going out to shoot the scene
5) Kevin C. at his trailer along with his bodyguard
6) My infamous treasure, my t-shirt (enlarge it, and you'll see Kevin's signature)
7 and 8) Me with other extras from the movie.

Now that had to be so much fun!
I saw Tin Cup years go but think I might have to watch it again to see if I ca spot you in it. How neat! :-)
How cool! I own this movie -- gotta go watch it again ....
Will have to watch Tin Cup on DVD again. That is truly a memorable event in ones life.
Cheers!
How did you ever get to be an extra? How did you get picked or what did you have to do to get in it? Nice to see what you look like. I have always wondered. Nice post. I have never had anything that much fun happen. I guess my closest thing was being the homecoming queen!! that sounds silly now!! but it was WAY FUN!!
That is really cool! You are famous! LLB asked me today when my 15 min. of fame was. I told her I'm still waiting for it! LOL!!
I enjoyed Tin Cup...I'll have to watch it again and look for you...what scene are you in?
How fun. Do you still do extra work?
Very cool
Your posts are always fun.
Hi Wystful ~~ What an exciting time for you, congratulations. I am sure
it was lots of fun. Nice photo of you.
Thanks so much for the comments you leave on my post. Glad you enjoy. The one I was complaining about was all cramped up/ The verse looked better
the second time.Thank you again.
Take care, Merle.
Thanks for the comment today. I grew up with the Brooklyn Dodgers (listening with my uncle on the radio) and have loved baseball ever since. Took me forever when the wrong team moved to San Francisco but I eventually switched my allegiance.
I sent the lyrics to the "Coke" song to the commenter who asked about them.
I sympathize with those "tip of the tongue" moments.
Cool! Kevin Costner close up! I've always wanted to be an extra, but never had the opportunity.
I remember you telling me over the phone about the Tee shirt
How exciting! That is wonderful! How neat to meet all those stars!
I've seen both movies, I'm a lifetime fan, nothing like it when your home sick from work. A box of kleenex and lifetime....
I don't do MM anymore, since my ex's wife took it over. I'm looking for Way Back Wenesday Meme. I've seen it on other blogs.
Love reminising.
OMG YOU'RE A STAR!!! AWESOME POST! Thats soooo awesome that you got that kind of experience! That incredible & very impressive! :o) Great photos as well! :o)
How cool. Thank you so much for sharing. Great that you were able to get the t-shirt signed. Well I have to say that Mr. J's behavior didn't surprise me...
Oh, way cool, Wystful1. That's too bad about DJ though; I'm so disillusioned. I used to like him. Okay, well, I used to be totally smitten with Sonny Crocket, truth be told. [heh] Anyway, no wonder Melanie dumped him. She's a sweetie... Um, right?
How very cool! Thank you so much for sharing this.... So interesting to know..I am going to have to rent the movies now..lol
One of my best friends from childhood has been an extra in quite a few movies that were shot in Vegas.
She said most of the time it is long hot days for about 50 dollars.
In one movie ..I think it was " honey I shrunk the kids" she had to keep walking across the street with the crowd..over, and over, and over again..lol
Wow, neat!
