TWO FOR TUESDAY
TWO YEARS AGO...when we relocated to Texas from Arizona, I had hair long enough to sit on it when I sat at the desk. Usually, being very thick and heavy, I braided it.
Then, I had it cut. To about mid back. Still, it was heavy and with the humidity down here, it was more or less uncontrollable unless I DID braid it. I was busy each morning about an hour just braiding....and I loved to have it in the French Braid. But after a while, my arms would get tired. No, really...achy tired from working with it each day. A lot of times I would just brush through it and use the butterfly combs.
Then, about 9 months ago, I went in and had the braid cut off...and got a bob cut, about mid-nape! It felt good to have the weight off my head. But, again, the humidity in the air making it so unruly, and the head of hair being thick and heavy, the hair needs to be cut. My hair grows wildly fast! The other day, while washing and brushing it out, it was once again, below the neck line and hanging about 1 to 2 inches beyond my shoulder. So, that means it grew about 7 to 8 inches!!!
Each time I would roll over on my side at night, I'd get a mouthful of hair. Or I'd wake up to go to the john, and the hair was hanging over the face and I'd have to brush it aside to see in the dark to find the ladies room!!!---And by that time, I was wide awake. LOL
I've been thinking the unthinkable for a few weeks. Oh, I was determined to get it cut again, and styled. But, for me, the unthinkable was getting my hair colored!! I wanted a deep strawberry blond. But leave us not panic(especially directed to you, my dear sister)!!! I didn't do it. Everyone I know convinced me to stay natural. Afterall, my face DOES show my age, every wrinkle I'm proud of---with my life, I've worked hard for each little one! And having my hair without the gray wouldn't suit me, nor my personality, or for that matter, my facial wrinkled texture! The hair stylist at the salon gave me the right words to convince me of my otherwise, nosensical thoughts! She called my natural hair color NORDIC SILVER! Wow!!! That did it. No hair color for me, I like the idea of someone thinking my hair color is Nordic silver, hehehehe. But I did get it cut. And for today's TWO for TUESDAY---here are two views of my new do! (Remember yesterday at this time the hair length was beyond the shoulder by an inch --give or take!!)
--The back--
--The front--
And not intended to sound vain at all, I can even see my earrings without pulling my hair away from the ears!! YAY!!

YOU are ADORABLE! And you've come such a loooooooong way baby! I did LOVE your long long looooong hair though! And I love the picture that pops up on my computer of you with it back in a braid and the wisps falling in your face! (one from when we met) But this new style is DARLING! What does Bud say? I know he liked your long hair too -- but I bet HE sees how cute this is too! Nordic silver... hmmmm... yea... I hope when mine goes it goes Nordic silver too! Or Bright White! One or the other! Ahhhhh heck... ANYTHING but dull grey! LOL! So... where's my clue?
You look stunning with your new haircut, Ms W...and I love your smile!
I should look that good....LOL
Your stylist is right!!! That "Nordic Silver" color is beautiful and it looks really good on you. I am getting my hair highlighted for the first time this weekend. I hope it goes well. ANd I know what you mean about cutting off LLLLOOOONNG hair. I cut 15 inches off in one snip right after my son was born.
LOVE it! The cut is awesome! It seems to fit you to a tee... So does the Nordic Silver! *Smile*
My hair is changing as well... Except instead of something lovely like Nordic Silver, mine are Iron Gray! *EEP*
I absolutely LOVE the haircut!! It looks great!
Having no idea what it looked like before, as this is the first time I've seen the lovely you, I think the cut is very becoming! And, I think the nordic silver thing really works for you! ;)
Though as a natural blonde (which darkens every year) I don't have any nordic silver strands yet, and I, for one, plan to fight every one of them! ha ha.
It looks great!
Your hair is similar in color to my mothers, who also has never colored hers. And she gets compliments on it all the time, and queries as to who does her color. Her answer is always "God colors my hair". :-)
What a cute haircut!
I love it!
Cute haircut! Your color is lovely!
wowie zowie - Are you beautiful -you Nordic godess you!!! You look just great and it really compliments your face too! Good move... I mean cut!
Hugs
LL
Love the haircut and your color is just lovely.
You have a great smile!
:)
YEA, a picture! I LOVE your haircut! I too have salt & pepper hair and just recently had mine cut as well. I colored mine for years and after having it cut, all the color is gone and I'm really glad. I like your cut so much, I just may get mine done the same way.
Thanks for sharing. btw-I'm adding you to my Friends list...if it's OK.
Oh, the great Nordic silver lady :-) Looking goooood girl!
I just wish that you could donate some of yours to me... Going bald is only fun if I can call myself Baldie Hawn ;-)
Oh Wystful... I love the hair cut... a very classy look cut and style...
I've pretty much always had long hair and as I get older, I know that eventually I'll have to get it cut but I'm just so chicken!! lol I just LOVE your haircut, it really suits your lovely face and the colour is gorgeous...no need to cover that hair with colour!! xox
I love your haircut! and the silver is just perfect, you look wonderful, you have the sweetest smile!!!
Evening Wystful,
I have to agree with the rest here, your new do is just lovely....personally, I love short hair and have worn mine that way for 25 years. I have naturally curly hair which really curls up when it gets past my chin. Humidity also make it frizz...Growing up in the 60's when the look was long, flowing STRAIGHT hair, I looked like a reject from one of Jimi Hendrix's bands...LOL...It's amazing I have any hair left today considering all the things I did to it, like ironing it (yes, we did that way back WHEN) and chemical straightening. Fortunately I wised up and found a good hairdresser who set me straight (no pun intended!) LOL..
Think I put a couple of pics out here of my hair in its various stages...everyone will get a good laff!
You look terrific..
Cheers,
Carol
Your new hair cut is beautiful! And I think it makes you look younger sweetie! I love, love, love that cut! and your hair is a beautiful colr, Nordic Silver indeed!...I would love to let my hair go and see what color it really is, but I've been coloring it for 40 years, and I cant do that with a TWIN sister that is vain about hair! lol...but I think ours will be a pretty snow white, according to those that come in at my sideburns and brows!...Just beautiful hun! love it!
I've always had short hair and natural color (most of the time).
Yours is just lovely.
Great hair, Wystful. You look wonderful with short hair. I have to keep mine long because it's easier than keeping it short. I, too, normally French-braid it in the summer, but it doesn't take me very long, thank goodness!
Thanks for the pictures!
Your hair looks great Wystful and so do you! Thanks for sharing your recent pic!
