Before I sit down and write my blog for the day, I'd like to thank Wendy Ann for the most precious of gifts!! You filled my day with joy and courage to face the holiday season and 2007 with your wonderful words and thinking of me!! Thank you Wendy Ann!! The Gift

In my own little world, there are times of reminiscing and wonderment. There are ancient times in history. There are historical times of "days of yore". There are the days of the most recent past - like our parents' generation. And then there are the "Good ol' days!!"----
An online friend over the years--a very sweet, downhome, Southern Texas belle, with illuminating charm; whom I was privileged to finally meet in person last month, informed me there was a site she tought I'd be interested in, 'cause it made her think of me with my blog of memories and always reminiscing of the 'good ol' days'.
I really appreciate the fact that someone took the time to make this flash piece on the net. My childhood memories of watching programs, that my father had on television, came back to me this weekend with a vivid recall. (He was the man of the house, the "king of his kingdom" --we watched what he said we'd watch! If we didn't want to watch these programs, then it was reading time or homework time for us! LOL And with the strict upbringing, we learned to respect the word of the elder!)
Anyway, I digress. This site has some great flashbacks of television when our world was Black and White! Ahhhhhhhh, what joy and bliss. Also, the poetic addition above each image tells it all!! Thanks Amber Star! You made my day!!
If you're all of my generation you will find you also appreciate going back in TV history. Some good music along with screeenshots of the old programming of our childhoods! If you're not of my generation, then you will get a kick out of our television 'upbringing'! Turn up your volume if you have speakers attached to your computer...sit back and enjoy by---> Clicking on the "TV" image below

I too remember this. Thanks for sharing it.
Happy Monday!
What a wonderfully creative blog....I found you through Pea's blog.
Hope you have a fantastic day and wonderful week ahead. My weekend only begins today post nightshift....
Cheers
Watching that black/white TV brought back such good memories. Wouldn't it be nice if that was the same tv lineup that kids were exposed to today? Such wholesome tv watching. Thank you, for the memories...
Yep! I enjoyed it on the board over the weekend! It's a great share!
I remember the days of black and white television when I watched shows like The Hit Parade, Hopalong Cassidy, the old Mickey Mouse Club, etc. Those really were the good ole days! Thanks for the memories. Happy Monday!
i had a black and white tv in college. :) Mostly because it was free from a friend and I couldn't afford the color one. :) Even though it was in the 1990s :)
I still have a black and white set--and a color set that's so fuzzy it might as well be b & w.
Thanks for visiting my MM.
I am from that generation so I absolutely enjoyed it immensely. It brought back a lot of good memories. The funny thing is that I wrote some similar things in my MM this morning too. You know you and I have done this before...ODD but true!! Thanks for sharing this. I loved it...Sandy
Loved the peek back at some of my favorite TV shows and listening to the commercials too!
We watched the shows as a family and my parents never had to worry about what was being shown or said..
:)
Now, Melli...if you've found your way here, here's the next clue *link*

Thanks so much for the post. I am only 28 but I remember being in about 3rd-4th grade and watching Nick at Nite during the summer. I fell in love with the Patti Duke show and The Donna Reed show. Not to mention Ozzie and Harriet. Man I wish I could have seen them when they were originally aired.
Life still looks better in black and white... *Chuckle*
Thanks for sharing! *Smile*
Ah, even though I can't remember it like you, since this is from American Tv, some of them even were on Swedish TV.
It's such fun to see old things. It's like history come alive! I love it.
Gosh, I remember most of these shows...the ones I use to never miss were Bonanza and The Ed Sullivan Show:-) I so enjoyed this and makes me wish we still had those kind of shows on tv...what they have today is mostly trash!! xox
