SUNDAY'S SNIPPET
On a given day, I love to peruse the local newspaper. Mostly hubby buys one to read while eating lunch together, and we talk about what things we're reading. Sometimes we get into a deep discussion that our lunch "hour" will turn into an extended conversation that lasts much longer. It keeps us informed, and gives a chance for the two of us to continue to grow together.
Yesterday, I read a most interesting article in our paper, The Caller Times, that just astounded me. The woman's talents are beyond anything I've ever seen.
While sitting here contemplating what to write about today, and still pertain to a memory...I thought that a weekly tidbit (one that is NOT typical media where you hear about crime, murder, mayhem, war, or economical woes of the country. Something GOOD!) I admit it may be a challenge to actually find something in the paper that isn't media-hype. But, I'm gonna give it a try.
So, with that in mind, I wanted to share this incredible story. Hoping that there may be a 'value' in reading it somehow.
A condensed version of the 2 page article, entitled "Walls are her Canvas" goes on to explain about Louise Udovich from Ohio who loves to paint. The home she had lived in for 16 years had white walls. Now her walls are her paintings!
She started by painting a vine and trellis above the front entry...from there it's escalated to murals. Her talents with the brush show 3-D images. (The jungles on the wall are her laundry room!!) The 'nautical' is her staircase to the basement. Her son wanted his bathroom to look like a castle. He got it.---walls 'aged' with paint to look like vine covered stones. (She even painted the vertical blinds with the image of a dragon when closed!) Oh, and ya--you guessed it!! She painted the "tongue in cheek" throne ornate chair around the toilet---a true throne!!
Amazing!!!

That was a great post and very informative. By the way, I love your new look. Very Christmasy.
Thanks for visiting.
Nice Christmas layout!
That lady is so talented. I'd pay a pretty high price to have a talent like that--that's for sure.
Love your Christmas look! I wish I knew how to do all that kind of thing.
I especially loved reading about this woman. I just can't seem to convince my hubby to let me paint on the walls though! But I love what she's done!
Your Christmas look is very festive!
Very interesting post, and that lady is very artistic. When we first moved here (30yrs ago) my husband did a few murals on walls. We eventually painted over them, but we've been discussing doing a few again! (Now that his eyesight is so much better)
:)
First of all, I must say how much I love, love, LOVE your Christmas design !!! No wonder I have no talent in the painting department...that lady took it all! lol Wow, isn't it amazing to be able to paint your walls like that...I would go for the castle look, always wanted to live in a castle:-) Take care!! xox
Coming to your blog was a trip into Christmastime, Wystful 1. Your tradition of reading the newspaper together over lunch and talking with your husband about the stories you find, that's a lovely tradition. It always interests me to learn how couples create their lives together. My husband and I have our together and talk time in the morning, early, over coffee and usually with C-Span playing in the background. The same story comes to us at the same time that way and we will discuss it if it interests us.
Thanks for coming by. I'll see you again. Annie
That is amazing!
Love the Chrismasy look too.
Is Chrismasy a word?
It should be..lol.
OY! Christmas already? LOL! I knew it would be! It's very cute!
This woman is very cool! I had a friend when I was a teenager - an adult friend -- family I babysat for and eventually went to live with in Minnesota -- and she used to paint murals all over her house too! (nothing quite as wonderful as these - but murals just the same!) She always did things like in her kitchen she painted a phone booth around her wall mounted phone - and her two children standing beside it... it was cute! In her livingroom she had a Hawaiian scene of a volcano and the ocean with black sand... very pretty! When she would get all the walls painted, then it was time to move! LOL!
I enjoyed this!
(I was just kiddin' with ya about the sex thing! I'm sorry if you were offended -- I really didn't mean it!)
Interesting article! Makes me wish I could visit her home and see it for myself.
Thanks for the kind comments you left on my blog today.
Wonderful, wonderful story! I LOVE that kind of stuff. WHY don't the newspapers write more like this?
I also love wallpaintings. I don't know how they do that large paintings and get them to look so darn good :-)
OH, and what a lovely Christmas layout you've got now! Ho ho ho.
Oh, I just love your darling little Santa, and all your decorations look so pretty! It really helps to get us all in the Christmas mood!
Painting is my passion! I used to paint for a living! I love articals about good people with amazing talents! It is so refreshing! Thanks for sharing! :)
