Just one maniac Monday today.
I just read a comment left for me asking me why my holiday blog here starts in the middle of the browser window...and it was stated that the visitor is using the new-improved version of Internet Explorer. IE-7!! Well, I had the computer updated with IE-7 weeks ago, but I've never been out there on that particular browser for some time. My preference of use is the super Firefox. It's a wonderful browser and more user friendly than any I've used. A friend of mine uses Opera, I know several that uses IE-6 and the more 'ancient' IE-5 even. But most I know uses and likes Firefox browser.
So, anyway, I went out and opened my IE-7 this morning, and sure 'nough!!---it DOES look like the blog opens and starts in the middle!! Why? Because my background is NOT opening/loading in the new '7' version of IE!!
I said, hmmmmmmmm. "This should be fixable". Right Wystful!! Nope!! Seems Microsoft has a huge bug in IE 7 and it's not expanding images---and in some cases text!! Nor did my background COLOR hex tag show in IE7!! So, I did get that ironed out, but the background image didn't show no matter what css I added!! And that's when I called in Google for help. I did some coding research and searches only to find out that I'm not the ONLY one that is frantic to find the 'cure' for Microsoft's petty excuse for a 'new-improved' browser!!
Once I did get the background color to show in Internet Explorer -after a couple of hours adding code, erasing code, moving code, etc. etc. etc. I'm gonna be satisfied with the holiday colors that show here in that browser. Again, Firefox is wonderous!!
Here's what I read and got a kick out of this:
"A lot of developers have been talking about it for months, so it is not with much fanfare we celebrate the news. Internet Explorer 7 has finally been released in its “polished” state for the general public to consume. There’s no telling when Windows XP will start automatically issuing the browser through its built-in Windows Update feature, but I’m guessing it might be soon. Meantime, web designers the world over are scrambling to make sure their sites perform as intended in IE7 (Talk bugs, hacks, and more at Zeldman.com). And it’s not just Microsoft that’s turning up the heat. Last Tuesday, the Internet Explorer team in Redmond sent a cake to the Firefox team at Mozilla to congratulate them on their Firefox 2.0 — this developer’s browser of choice — official release."
In all fairness, I must tell the visitor that I'm sorry my blog isn't showing correctly because of the fixed background and image size -- since IE will not recognize it for now 'til the bug is fixed.
Sometimes I do wish that all browsers were compatible, but that would make life boring!! *smiles*

Now I am really speechless ! And that doesn't happen very often. I never ever had ANY problem with your blog and use IE 7 since the very beginning so it must be about one month. It even looks much better than with my old version. What I noticed was, that people using the old IE had suddenly a black background so the text was unreadable. And I weren't the only one. But as soon as these people also took the new IE version it was OK. I also use firefox, but had only troubles with it. Everything was mixed up on my blog, especially the pictures. I even checked with my husbands computer and it was the same. Awful. Now I only use Firefox to upload pictures and am happy with my IE 7. I really wonder what happens there, do you think its depending on the country ?? If you would have asked me, I would have told you, your blog looks perfect.
Well, thanks Gattina!! -- Now that really makes me wonder. The background didn't load for me in IE7 --maybe I'd better go back and check the preferences...if there IS a preferences. Perhaps that's the problem. Who knows. It's got me puzzled.
Thanks for stopping by. I am using IE7. The problem I'm running into may not be an IE7 issue. I switched over to Beta and now I can comment on a non-Beta blog, unless I do it as other or anon. You site looks nice, but it opens in the middle of the page for me. all of the blogger stuff is pushed together in the center, which may be how you organized it.
I like your Chritmas theme.
Beta and non-Beta drives me nuts.
I use Firefox and I can see yours fine. I switched because IE messed up the color and kept dropping my sidebar to the bottom.
Germlins in my computer? It was definitely the modem but we never did figure out why. Next time I'll turn the computer completely off first thing instead of last.
I upgraded to 7.0 on my home computer, and I hate it. Wish I could go back. Sigh :)
But your blog looks ok to me on that computer.
I had always used internet explorer until Lazy Daisy visited me and told me to get busy and get Firefox. She even sat down and downloaded it on the spot. I have not been upset about it once!! I look at my blog sometimes on IE and think wow...it looks awful there!! Yes I totally agree that Firefox is the way to go!! Sandy
You are the second person in less than a week to recommend Firefox, so I decided to see what the fuss was about. I have IE7, and that whole top of your blog didn't load for me. It loaded beautifully in firefox, but MY blog didn't load properly...why can't all these browsers just get along ;)
Yea... I don't MIND IE... but I do find that Firefox works better! Not as many hangups and such. And IE used to send my computer into tailspins when I went to sites that put music on their page... I had no problems with Firefox though -- I thought THAT was really strange!!! Because up until I downloaded Firefox, I had always assumed the sound thing was a problem with MY COMPUTER!
Wow - I would have just responded that I wanted it in the middle, but you were great to do so much research.
I use Mozilla/Firefox all the time. When I want to watch tv programs, I have to switch to IE.
