A couple of days ago, in honor of Veterans' Day Weekend, our city hosted a special showing that anyone interested, was privileged to watch. It was held at the North Beach (formerly known as Corpus Christi Beach) near the USS Lexington, docked permanently, now a WWII museum.
We got a few pictures---

Retired Marine Col. Archie Donahue is a World War II fighter ace who will be interviewed on the flight deck of the Lexington on Thursday during a wartime re-enactment that is open to the public.
A documentary, "The Blue Devils: The Story of VMF-451 During WWII," is using the museum on the bay as stunt double for the USS Bunker Hill that supported the Marine squadron of Corsair fighter planes that flew missions against the Japanese.
"We are simulating the kamikaze attack that eventually sank the Bunker Hill," said Terry Dodge, CEO of TLD-Productions that's doing the documentary. "This is the key event that changed the lives of these men who braved the air war in the Pacific."

Here is what I captured through the lens of the digital:

How exciting! I would love to see something like that, but they rarely do airshows close to here. However, now that the boys are getting older, travel is a bit easier. We'll be on the lookout next summer.
So you are close to (or in) Corpus Christi? I have a friend from there. He now lives in Dallas, but spent his high school years in Corpus Christi and his parents still live there.
Oh, I bet it was really wonderful to watch...and am sure it filled your hearts with much gratitude. *s*
Wow that must have been exciting. I know the few times I have seen one or more fighters quickly fly over head (Indy 500 race, Memorial Day Parade, Kentucky Derby Festival) it has been so exciting. To see actual planes from back so many years would be amazing. Thank you so much for sharing. I never did put up a Vetaran's Day post. Shame on me. But I did make sure my flag was flying high and proud.
