Breathe, Wystful---breathe!
Ask me how my day went yesterday and you'll get a look that would not be pretty!!
Here I am ripping the old wallpaper off. Doing quite well, actually. I have one wall completely free of paper and old dried paste. Nice, smooth. I move on to the next wall and get nearly done. It's getting close to lunch time. And, I'm pretty good at breaking for lunch. hehehehehe Trying to hurry the job to complete two whole walls of the old crap, so when we return home (ya, we go out for lunch most always, at our age we don't cook much)--anyway, I'm getting the the top corner where the ceiling and wall corners come to meet. I have my handy dandy home-improvement tool...I'm standing on the toilet actually since the ladder doesn't fit back in the tight corner----the old paper is off, and I'm wetting the old glue (saturating it actually). Done...scrapping away! Only to realize that I caught the paper tape contractors use to seal wall seams!!!! I look up at the ceiling and the spackling of the ceiling is coming off!!! I hit the tape and it's falling down!!!
Oh dear! I jump off---run to the closet where the glue is...go back, and more has managed to fall (the tape---right along the wall/ceiling)!! Bud, hearing my cussing (he was working on the closet we took off the bathroom wall, to prepare it for refinishing) came in.
Well, by that time half my lunch hour was messed up. It's not like we have a fixed schedule, but when I don't get my eats...I get cranky!
An hour or so later, the ceiling is fixed (except for some plastering/spackling I need to replace which I will do today ---I had to wait for this unforseen project 'cause the walls are too wet with me saturating the old paste!! Have to make sure the tape that began to fall off is sticking properly first!). It doesn't get better for a while, there is still some old wallpaper paste that has dried up once again with me having to stop and fix the mess I made in the corner!
Have you ever had one of those days?
But---by 5:30 p.m. I had all the old stuff done, the walls lightly sanded to get everything smooth for today's wallpapering and painting!! This smaller alcove of a room will be half painted wall and the other half papered. Like wainscoting--but instead of wood for the wainscoting, it'll be wallpaper with a border separating the painted sections.
How do you spell relief? In this case, like the day I had yesterday...you don't. All you can spell is T-I-R-E-D!! Approximately 11 hours, yesterday, working in one room!! And get yourself psyched for another day ahead.

This morning, I get up, raring to go. The bathroom has no windows so, I can work in there any time I choose...don't have to wait for daylight that is. (And by the way--I do have before pictures taken and saved on the camera...when I get the room finished, I'll post the before and after pictures!!) But to get my day started, I pour my orange juice and sit at the computer. First thing I click on from my favorites menu is Medicine Cards. Medicine cards are an ancient Native American ritual. Kinda like a modern horoscope. I picked a link to see what today's card is. I got---
And the writing for me on the card is:
Breathe - Take in life force.
Accept the gift of usable energy.
Touch the Invisible.
Manna is life force. Manna is present in every atom, and is Great Spirit's essence. Dolphin teaches us how to use life-manna through our breath. It revitalizes each cell and organ, and breaks the limits and dimensions of physical reality so that we may enter the Dream Time.
If Dolphin has appeared to you today through the selecting of this card, you are to be a link to some solution for the Children of Earth. This can be a time when you are to link with Great Spirit and bring answers to your own questions or to those of others. In addition, this can mean a time of communication with the rhythms of nature. You are put on notice to be mindful of your body rhythms and the patterns of energy being fed to you from the Creator. Imitate Dolphin and ride the waves of laughter, spreading joy in the world. Breathe and experience the manna so freely given. Break existing barriers and connect to the Dream Time or Great Star Nation. Know that we are all whole in the eyes of the Ever-Living One.
Well, yesterday's waves were pretty forceful! I managed to stay afloat. The election polls open at 7 a.m. and then I wanna be at Circuit City when they open for the DVD, Cars!! Hope I don't sink today, when I once again begin to paddle those oars!!

Wow...you worked 11 hours...I am very impressed! I know you were surely frustrated by the miahap but I am sure the finished room will look absolutely fantastic! *s*
You worked longer than I did yesterday! I know it will look awesome when you're finished and worth all the trouble in the end. I can't wait to see the pictures.
It is my experience (mostly from watching home decorating shows on tv) that removing wallpaper is one hard job! I was waiting for you to write that you stepped in the toilet! (that's where my brain goes)
when you're done, want to come over to my condo and help me paint 14 food ceilings? :)
One good thing is that there is always another day!! Take it easy!! Hope you get your CARS video. Probably will be easier than your yesterday adventure. It is raining here today and I am still not feeling well. Am not worrying about a THING today!! Just glad to be at home. Sandy
Did you get you copy , the movie was AWESOME! :)
Wow, sounds like a busy day indeed. I hate having to "repair" what I just ripped down. Can't wait to see the before and after pictures.
I'm sure all that hard work has paid off and I can't wait to see the pics.
