Well, the stores finally have Halloween things out on the shelves. I really started wondering if they would have the decorations out at all. LOL I promised myself I'd get all gussied up for the 'holiday' here, you can see me in all my glory with my costume. Once I saw that the stores were getting ready, I couldn't resist. I couldn't believe the next aisle over the Christmas things are out too!
Anyway, Halloween is my all time favorite time of year. The time of year for fun in our household. It isn't a 'serious' holiday like Christmas ---it's the holiday to decorate. And I can go kinda weird and get 'by with it' without being locked up in that infamous rubber room. I bake cookies in all halloween shapes, I have webbing in just about every window. Hubby does the outdoor decorating. I even have a ceramic witch collection. And I've made a couple of the 'cone' witches -- along with a grim reaper that one lady thought I should make and sell at a craft show. But it's not about that---it's all about the fun things I can do.
I hadda decorate here too.
I have two projects going at home. Just bought a whole bunch of stuff today to make my own "pretty" decoration for the mantel. I saw something in the window at the mall that was "Halloween themed" and the price tag was $79.00 plus tax. And all it was was a wire mesh with orange material with black branches. For $79.00?? I don't think so. So I went to the Home Depot and got the wire I needed, and then went to the craft shop and bought some orange material and some black glitter...I will have hubby get out and cut some branches off the tree and we'll get the black glitter on them and glue it all together. All for around $7.50 total.
Happy day for me.
Halloween is near.

OH MY GOSH, I have found someone that loves Halloween as much as I do! My friends think I am crazy! I am contemplating leaving my decorations up all year...no joke! It's just FUN. No freaking out over gifts or traveling, just fun. I love the colors, the food, the candy, the costumes. Love it!
I found you through Jessica's site...our little boy, Jack, also has Downs.
:)
Finally? Our stores have had Halloween stuff out for two weeks at least already -- just as soon as the school stuff was sold out. I can't believe it's out already, lol! Wahhhhhh, summer's really over!
BOO! Are you scared yet? LOL
Isn't it amazing how much can be charged for "art"? $79. is a lot of money & you saved bunches...hope you tale a pic of the decoration you make for us to see! *s*
Happy Halloween!!
Yeah, the Halloween stuff is finally out, the Christmas stuff is coming --- but the school uniforms are gone! What is this -- your child isn't going to grow during the school year, or ruin any of his clothes? I can deal with coats in August and bathing suits in January, but I don't get this uniform thing.
It's only Sept 14th!! You so silly! This is my favorite time of year too. i love the fall whether, and the store I worked at before having theBeast starts getting the christmas decorations out around this time and they serve hot apple cider to the costumers for free. I loved working there with all the good smells. It's a little locally owned Christian bookstore. I think I might be sad to go in there and not be working.
trick or treat! (you should give out virtual candy. ha)
I enjoy halloween, too. i like to dress up and go out. I saw a 'twister' costume online that I thought maybe I could make myself. :)
The Dollar store here already has Christmas decorations and cards in place.
We'll probably do the usual "trunk or treat" on Halloween and a stage show put on by one of our high schools the day before. It's become a tradition of sorts.
Most stores I've visited a few weeks back had Christmas & Thanksgiving and no halloween yet. Just drives me nuts that they toss that stuff out earlier & earlier every year.
I decorate some for Halloween. I hope you will show us your mantle decorations when you get it done. Fall is my favorite time of the year; but more Thanksgiving than Halloween. Don't throw your shoe at me, but I'd be just fine skipping Halloween. (running & hiding) :-)
Well... I don't get "into" it like you do anymore -- probly will again when the grandkids start appearing! But you definately got the right idea about MAKING YOUR OWN! It's ridiculous the prices they get in some of the shops for stuff you can make for next to nothing! Criminy... If I wasn't crafty we'd have NOTHING! You GO girl! Can't wait to see pics when it's done! (though it is a bit early... it's not EVEN October yet!) *G*
We stay away from home on Halloween so we don't have to deal with the trick or treaters. Mean or what??!!
