I didn't have time yesterday to get any 'road' pictures, so, I scanned one from my photo albums. This is the Northwest area of Tucson, Arizona directly behind our home when we lived there....I could see the electrical pole from our patio and saw a couple of golden eagles land...rushing out the front and walking down the sidewalk...just behind our yard's block wall, I snapped the picture. (dark areas atop the pole/wire) Mountains in the background are the Catalina mountains. Taller 'round pole-like' object on the left side of the road is the infamous Saguaro (pronounced sa WAR oh) cactus (the cactus that has 'arms').

Hi Wystful1,
I'm happy to be the first to leave you a comment this week. Great photo...I had the same idea - went through some of my older shots to find one that aptly fit today's topic. Hopefully one of my trips will eventually bring me over in your neck of the woods. Hope you and yours have a nice Labor Day.
Cheers,
Carol

I got an early start this week too! Looks warm there, too warm! ;-)
I'm not the only one posting early. I can see the eagles. Really cool that you got to see them fly and land and everything.

What a nice area. Our last white shepherd was from Tucson. We toured the entire state before we picked up Max and flew home. I loved AZ

I really like this one! What a lovely view you had there. I love the mountains and miss them living in the wide open flat land I'm in now. :-)
Have a super Saturday and thanks for dropping by (and the lovely complement!) :-)
Nice picture. Looks like a wonderful area.
Great shot. I have seen a pair of Golden Eagles on a telephone pole but didn't have a camera at the time. I almost never travel without one in my car now.

Mine is on the road to Lake Superior (sorry I didn't remember to write that!)
Home of Pass the Torch Tuesday
I forgot to look through things. Just not into it this morning for some reason...slept in instead!! Nice photo though. I would love to see eagles in their own environment!! I have been in Arizona a lot since my brother and now my parents live there. I may look for an on the road shot later when I get around...good shot
Love the pictures of the mountains!!! Would love to visit out west some day.Mine is up. Have a great holiday.
I was just thinking how wonderful it would be to be in a place like Arizona today - the weather here Northeast grows swampier with each passing summer. I have always wanted to see one of those cacti close up.
Thanks for sharing.
Take care
Thank you for sharing this picture from your AZ stay.
You know, Tucson starts to really grow on me. It is about 10 degrees cooler during the summer months and much closer to our favorite vaction spot in Mexico - lol...
Happy Saturday, Wystful :) and have a safe holiday weekend.
I love road photos. This is great one. I'm joining in today. Just got back from being on the road, on vacation.
Hope you have a great long weekend.
Nice scenery. Have a great long weekend!
Nice road shot!!! Thanks for visiting :-)
Hey Wystful1 - Nice shot of the golden eagle. We're planning a road trip through the west in 2008, I want to hit some birding hotspots along the way.
Very cool photo.. It reminds me of Nevada ( were I grew up ) ... I remember standing in Boulder City by the Hoover Dam and hoping from the Nevada state line over to the Arizona one over and over as a kid... When I was young it fascinated me that I could be in both states at the same time..lol
Some scene you had from your ex-back yard!
Thanks for visiting me :)
Beautiful scenery, I'd really love to go to Arizona some day!!!
Seeing those eagles must have been awesome!
Hope you have a great rest of the day and thanks for visiting my PH!
That is just beautiful. Thanks for sharing and for visiting us as well! BTW, I e-mailed everyone beforehand and posted a thing about the carnival on my blog, but I didn't have your e-mail to let you know, sorry.
This is so funny, we used to live in Kansas and they joked that telephone poles were the state tree...obviously there wasn't much in Kansas. We live in Florida now. :) Cute pic!

Great shot! I wish we had some eagles here .. well we apparently have some American Eagles in one of our downtown parks .. and we have perigrin falcons ... but I mean big birds in MY area. :) Cool
Love the Catalina Mountains in the background! Have a good weekend!
