The 911 Memorial was unveiled yesterday
Key Speaker - Governor Richard Perry
Note this picture is NOT of the unveiling at 10 a.m. on 9-11, it's the day it was brought into the city on a truck, placed in the park by a crane. A company in Rockport (just outside Corpus Christi) was contracted the job. Black Granite Globe

Well, September is historically the wettest month here. And yesterday we had a storm that when it was raining you could hardly see through it! Yes, it was that heavy. And I'm loving it. You see it's been that long...yes, Texas is in a drought (at least OUR area). We haven't had very much rain. The ground is so cracked in places that you could probably hide a Volkswagen in 'em! Just kidding. But all my flower gardens have suffered. Even tho we have a sprinkler system set to go and water two times a week...it's still so parched from the heat and lack of heavy humidity this area is used to having.
Yesterday, at 10 a.m. the city of Corpus was to unveil a new monument for the remembering of NYC's 9-11 attack. And from what I've seen in pictures, it's very nice. Gorgeous in fact. But with the rains, we stayed home. We didn't do as planned. Hubby and I wanted to see it uncovered at 10 a.m., 5 years to the day and hour of the first plane to hit the twin towers. Oh well, maybe today. Tho, it's lightning heavily right now, I may just have to shut things down once again to save my toy from damage.
It's on the down side of the hurricane season, the Atlantic coastal area has been hit this year, not badly hit compared to the most busy season of the year prior. But there still is a possibility....in the gulf. Florence has moved off Bermuda, and there is another tropical storm right behind it, heading in the same direction.
I pray we DON'T get hit by a hurricane, but oh could we use more rains. The biggest lake in our county, Lake Corpus Christi is 64% at it's capacity. We need rain.

It is a very beautiful piece of art & it would have been wonderful to see the unveiling and am sorry you missed it but do understand about weather conditions.
I hope you stay safe but get the rain you much need.
Ugh, you guys can have our rain. :)it's cold and rainy and grey and depressing here all week.
I keep hoping that the coast stays relatively hurricane free this year. We need a break after last year.
Glad to hear that you are getting rain. We leave tomorrow for Illinois "on a plane" and it is supposed to rain..I DO NOT like that thought at all. In fact it scares me. I don't like to fly when it rains...but what do you do. It is also to be raining in Illinois too. wow..
I hope you keep getting rain as I know how it is when you really need it...
That is a beautiful memorial.
It's been raining here too, but I don't really mind it. I see Gordon has formed and it looks like it will be heading away from the states. Of course you never know.
That is a beautiful memorial.
Lucky duck on the rain. We're so dry here. It did rain on Labor Day & something blew through last night; but that's about it. *sigh* I've given up trying to save my yard & plants.
