*Quiet soft voice* 'S all right? *Harsh, deep sounding voice* " 'S all right! *
Last night as I emptied the last of the laundry onto the table and sat the basket on the floor (it's been sitting in the basket a day already!), our little kitty--aka "The Ho", Tahoe jumped in. As she jumped in, the basket tipped over, covering her, trapping her underneath!
Now picture this...she had a blast. Playing with hubby. No wait, it gets a bit funnier. 'Cause he lifted one end of the basket up just to see her face...and said " 'S all right? " --well, of course, I was waiting to hear kitty answer back. roflmao
But, it made me think of days from way back! Granted, I either watched the Ed Sullivan Show or didn't. Even without remote, my dad ruled his kingdom! We watched what he wanted or nothing. We didn't have much choice back then. But of course, being a kid, I really enjoyed the nights he had Senor Wences!
Remember him? With his hand painted in lipstick and a small wig on top of his fist?!! That was Johnny! And beside the two, Mr. Wences and Johnny, was a box! Inside was Pedro! Just the wooden head...but animated somehow. Mr. Wences would go from the light-airy, almost falsetto voice dubbing for Johnny to instantly change his voice to the deep gruffier throated Pedro....and back to his true voice! It was so entertaining for the young at heart!

Senor Wences was known to us Americans as a very talented ventriloquist. Born in Spain, Wenceslao Moreno, he lived to a wonderful age of 103 years! Before television and Ed Sullivan he was a bull fighter! A matador! He died in New York City in 1999.
I remember him!!!
...and you thought it was gonna be a blog about our kitty, huh?

That is a bit before my time, but I know who you are talking about. Someone in my family loved that routine--my aunt, maybe?
My dad ruled the television in our house, too. When I was little the TV had a remote for on/off, but not to change channels. He used to joke that's why he had kids--to change the channel and mow the grass! We only watched what he watched. Period. Actually, if I visit them, it's still that way...
But the kitty story is what I could comment on! :) My cat LOVES to sit in my laundry pile. And when I go on vacation, he sits on my pjs or anything that smells like me. :) awwww.
S'okay? S'okay! Ahhhhh YES! I remember it WELL! And indeed it WAS entertainment! GREAT entertainment! And I think back then all dad's ruled the TV.... and when Dad left, then MOM ruled the TV! But Ed Sullivan was a regular at our house!!!
Everyone loved The Ed Sullivan Show and especially Senor Wences...I was around 12 I think or younger. Also I believe it was on on Sunday nights??? Right? We loved the little mouse too..That was also where I first saw Johnny Mathis. I loved to listen to him. Back then all we could do was listen and put a face to it. I was so astounded when I found out he was black. Not that it mattered to me but I just had him pictured differently!!
I can see why you do not do TT..It gets hard thinking of things, doesn't it?
Thanks for stopping by as usual. Sandy
I just loved Senor Wences! Also, the guy with the plates. Ed Sullivan was a fun filled Sunday night in our house when I was growing up, and for many years after I had my own home.
