Being that the Da Vinci Code is still on the top seller list, and the movie coming out this past year, hubby has been reading several of Dan Brown's books. One book in particular, he told me I should read. He kept telling me that the book is much better than the Da Vinci Code. Now over the months, talking and chatting with people, I've heard over and over that the book hubby tried to get me to read back then, is the talk. My friends, and online friends too, have said the same thing. This book is much better than the 'Code'. Okay, okay. Y'all convinced me. So, I go into the bookroom and grab it off the shelf. Now, mind you, I have another book that I'm halfway into...Ann Rice's "Christ the Lord" (also a good read....a novel so unlike Ms. Rice's style. But good none-the-less. About the life of Jesus as a child! And I truly want to get back into this as soon as I finish what I started this week.) Anyway, I go grab the book that everyone is talking about and begin to read. Just a few chapters in it, and it has me hooked. There is talk of ambigrams! Now that is a word that intrigued me from the beginning. So, since I read at night before shutting down the lights and going to sleep, first thing the next morning, I find the urge to boot up my computer and do some research on ambigrams.
I find that ambigrams:
is Latin - ambi, meaning both and gram, meaning letter/word.
is readable both rightside up and upside down
perhaps, mirrored images
optical illusions
wordplay
Okay, so I learned a bit. And I'm still interested. But I need to read more into the book to satisfy my curiosity of all the hoopla about the book!!! The Book.....
Also, while searching about ambigrams, I found on the 'net a place to play! You can make your OWN ambigrams!! I took my online name and typed in Wystful -- the generator brought forth my very own ambigram!! (see below-I animated it to show how to turn it around and read the exact way from the opposite side!)
the top of the ambigram is the white.

I must be the only person in the world that read Angels and Demons first, and didn't like it, so never read the Da Vinci Code. But I did think the ambigrams were cool. :)
from Wystful 1: Well, that's okay. I may think the same as you. Who knows. I will keep you in mind tho....again, I may feel the same as you Carmen.
The ambigrams are very cool. And I loved the Da Vinci Code, though I haven't watched the movie yet.
Voting has started at the Pass the Torch contest, so be sure to annouce it to your readers!
Very cool!!! I'll have to play around with that just for fun! Sorry, I haven't ever read a whole non-fiction book!!! Immaturity??? maybe. give me fiction anyday, and I can read it in a day!!!!
from Wystful 1: Angels and Demons isn't non-fiction. And I'm just like you, I'd MUCH rather read novels any o' day. Non-fiction is too much like being in school. LOL
I love Dan Brown and am champing at the bit for him to finish 'Solomon Key'......but it'll be a while.... :-(
If you want something completely different from him, I also recommend Deception Point!
I'm gonna have a go at the ambigrams but the firewalls here won't let me in atm.

from Wystful 1: Hi cq! It's nice having you back in blogland!! You've been missed. I've seen Deception Point on the bookshelves. And so far, Angels and Demons is exciting! I'm at the point where the daughter finds her father's eyeball!!!
Happy day to you.
I've read all of Dan Brown's works. I really enjoyed them.
Of course, there's not much I won't read and (mostly) enjoy, from cheap romance novels to my all-time favorite, Gone With the Wind.
from Wystful 1: Ohhhhhhhhh, I too love Gone With the Wind. My mother had a first edition, I have no idea where that went. Kicking myself for not making sure it got in my hands before she passed. Oh well. But I've read GWTW several times and never tire of it.
I liked Angels better, too. I was fascinated with the Pope election, which I read right before we had a Pope Election. Are you liking the Anne Rice? I hesitated- I'd much prefer her vampires...
