So, I slept deeply last night!! Except for when the time my diuretic consumption takes hold of me, and there's that irrisistable urge to just let it all go right there, all cozy and snuggled--------but no! The logic tells me, wet is NOT good. Not in bed!!! So, I get up. Take my little jaunt, do my business, and go back and zonk out again.
Time? 1:20 a.m.
More slumber, beautiful, blissful slumber!!
I then hear a faint sound outside my window. A bird singing to the world that it's time to get up. There is a reminder for me that a new day *sigh, already?* begins by the dim gray glowing of daylight filtering through the blinds at the window. Or is that the dim golden glow of the corner street light? Shadows of the clock are becoming more defined on the wall, reflecting from the glow of the upcoming sunrise.
Time? 6:40 a.m.
I try and convince myself, this is Sunday. No chores for today, just a lazy day ahead. Maybe some blog visiting, and a few games of computer program, hearts . Calling our daughter and finding out what's up with her and the boys. Perhaps seeing if my sister and brother in law are home and checking to see how he did in the seniors' golf tournament. Oh ya, and going over to the IM and chatting with our son. Checking emails, things like that! But then, I realize it rained heavily all week, and the grass, tho we mowed the previous Monday, is ankle deep again and the lawn edger is being charged overnight. Yuk. *remind self to check TV guide to see if Astros game will be televised*
Outside, the mosquitos are all waiting in ambush in the lush foilage, they all have my name plastered on their little peckers---waiting hungrily.
But that can wait. Afterall, we have been swamped, literally, with rainstorms. Water, water everywhere. I at least have to wait until the sun dries the dew from the grass blades before I crank up the Briggs and Straton! Besides, I think I said it's Sunday--a day of rest. Which the neighbors tend to not begin to stir until noon! hehehehehe But it would be fun to wake 'em all up at 7 a.m. with the mower noise, wouldn't it? I'm ornery that way.
Time? 6:50 a.m.
I crawl out of bed. Throw the quilted bedspread back over the sheets to keep cat hairs off the area in which I snooze. *smart, Wystful, smart* From the bedroom I step down to the living room. I shuffle, scratching my arse and yawning to get more oxygen flowing.....
I make it to the step up into the dining room. The living room is sunken lower than the rest of the house, if you didn't catch my stepping down and up, respectively.
It's rained again. I peek out the door to see just how much water is standing around the yard. By this time I'm waking up a bit, and I think well---I'll check the patio door area (when the heavens leak water heavily, the patio door is only inches off the foundation and the monstrous drops of water sometimes comes flowing in---)
I tromp around the carpeting, no! No dampness here, nor there. So it musta not rained much afterall.
Free and clear for a lazy day ahead.
I step back up from the living room floor onto the dining room carpeting again...walk slowly to avoid stepping on cats' tails and toe ouchies from chair legs....
Each step taken gingerly---
Wait!!!
Step backward a bit---
I felt wet!!
It can't have leaked in through the dining room exterior door!! Could it?
As I backtrack the few paces, my bare feet once again feels moisture!!
Hmmmmmmmmmm, by now I'm wide awake.
Time? 6:53 a.m.
I fumble for the overhead light...
Look down.
No rain soaking in.
But wet.
#$!!@^># Cats!!!!!
If that won't put a damper on your blissful morning, nothing will.
Time? 7:32 a.m.
My feet are all scrubbed, the hamper is a magical holding spot for the bile soaked soapy wash cloth...Yep, that bed of mine sounds better and better every step I take.
