When our daughter was growing up, she read and fell in love with the book series Little House by Laura Ingalls Wilder. She had all the books. But last night we watched part of E's "Child Stars". Which got me to thinking whatever happened to all the stars of television's Little House on the Prairie. Now, first as I cover this, our daughter was the spitting image of Melissa Gilbert when she was young. The freckles, the hair color, nose...even the eye color and teeth formation, everything nearly---right down to the shape of her eyebrows. Yep, a spitting image. Tho, we never called her 'half pint', she sure coulda been. And for today's television standards, the Little House on the Prairie was a very wholesome program, with family values, moralistic outcomes, a bit of comedic happenings, long lasting friendships, and true love with two wonderful, caring, giving, and guiding parents! Ahhhhh, to see this in the world of families today would be a dream come true!!
But now, whatever happened to:
Well, Michael Landon, Pa Ingalls, we probably have all heard. He died of pancreatic cancer in California July 1991.
Karen Grassle, Caroline Ingalls (or Ma Ingalls), since the Little House series, has appeared in movies and is now mostly active in theater. Living in Pacific Palasades with daughter, Lily.
Melissa Sue Anderson, Mary Ingalls, continued to pick up bit roles since the ending of Little House series such as "The Equalizer, Alfred Hitchock Presents, Murder She Wrote, and a few featured films. This year, 2006, she appeared in 10.5 Apocalypse.
Melissa Gilbert, Laura Ingalls, (aka "half pint"), is now married to television celeb Bruce Boxleitner. The couple has one son, Michael; named after Michael Landon. She is president of Screen Actors Guild.

Yes, indeed! Little House on the Prairie was one of my favorite television shows ever! And I loved Michael Landon long before that even - as Little Joe on Bonanza! Great programs!
Chi--yep, our daughter still resembles Melissa Gilbert at times...tho, I believe our daughter's chin is longer now! But ohhhh, it's uncanny.
Melli...that was one of my dad's favorite programs...I too liked Little Joe.
I remember, as a young adult, newly married, scheduling a free night on Monday evenings to watch--Little House on the Prairie. I was so sad when it ended! What a great show! What a great memory today!

I LOVE the little house books! We actually live about an hour away from where Laura Ingalls grew up (I think) The town has a whole weekend Laura Ingalls Wilder celebration.
Picture of the Lady bug cake is up!
I loved the Little House on the Prairie books.
Nellie Olesen--Alison Arngrim...is on the Advisory Board of "Protect" www.protect.org
Protect is a pro-child, anti-crime orginazation that (among other things) seeks to make tougher laws for child molesters and child abusers. An awesome orginization!
You're better than E!'s True Hollywood Story. Or is it Where Are They Now? Anyway, I would've never guessed that was Ma Ingalls!
