To hubby's delight and surprise, our son had a special Father's Day day planned. That means little ol' me had to keep it all a secret from him. I convinced him (hubby) that we should take some time away from home and drive around Texas. Well, we ended up in 'the secretly planned' city of Houston!!
Our son had Brunch planned for him at a famous Jazz, locally renowned, restarurant. Maybe if you've been to Houston or live around the area, you've heard of it --
Ruggles Grill
After arriving and having our cars parked by valets, we were escorted into the music room/dining area. And along with the fabulous food prepared by chef, Bruce Molzan, who worked under the tutlage of Wolfgang Puck...we were entertained with live JAZZ. Now jazz is hubby's favorite music. And our son knows. So we were enjoying the ambiance and great conversations along with some mood swinging music!!! The band that performs at Sunday's Brunch is Ken Mondshine and Band.
After our meal, and after we sat around about an hour with more conversation and music performances...we left. Sadly. Hubby could have sat there all day I fear. But our son had more planned. He knows how we love movies. Now, being that we go see a lot of movies, he picked one that is a macho theme and sure to be one we haven't gone to see...wanna guess?
Macho theme?----why none other than CARS.
And it was really a cute movie!! I personally fell in love with Tom Mater (voice over by The Cable Guy), but couldn't get enough of Paul Newman's voice -- I think he should stick around a lot longer and let us ladies who still think he's a hottie, enjoy what we can. But it was a very pleasant day, and alas, we had to too soon head back home to our kitties!!
Thanks for the great day!!! It was a memory for us both!!!

Great blog.

What a fun day! We saw Cars yesterday, too. Great movie! Would you believe my father owned a Hudson Hornet.
Awwwwww... this sounded REALLY fun! Not at ALL what I was expecting! I love Jazz too! I'll have to remember this place if I EVER get back to that neck of the woods! I'm glad Bud had such a Happy Father's Day!!!
Oh... I love Ruggles. My Inlaws used to live just around the corner from the restraunt. We would go there on special occassions. I love their Eggs Benedict. I'm glad your husband has such a neat son.
It sounds like you have a really thoughtful son. What a terrific day!
Looks like you had a great weekend.
You got out of H-town just in time because today it is floating right off the map!
I had to come back a second time to tell you that, yes, that is the Kemah bridge on Hwy 146 that you see in the background of my Saturday post. We have to run from hurricanes (class 3 or more), but on days like today, when the rest of Houston is flooding, our rain just rolls on into the Bay and we stay dry. Maybe unflooded is a better word -- nothing was dry today.
Maybe I'll get something like this when all my kids grow up! Surely at least one of them will do something like this. :)
lol how funny ... Guppy and my MIL ( Mitey Mite) and I all posted about going to see Cars on Father's Day as well.. I LOVED Mater... he was adorable... That movie was so cute. I am glad you all had a good time. I may have to go into Houston sometime and check this place that you went to out....
What a fun day...don't let my husband find out or he will be jealous! (all that Jazz music)
My daughter wants to see cars and I think we are going to break down and go this weekend.
