If y'all know me well, you know how I love movies. Titanic was one I saw over and over at the theater, and even rushed to the store early in the morning when it was released on DVD.
Hubby and I happened to be lucky one year after the movie was a hit --we happened to be in San Diego on one of the many weekend flights we took from Tucson. We'd go there 'just because'. Both of us love the city, and continued to return there to see water! *laughing* When you live in the middle of a desert with hardly any water to see other than in swimming pools and out of the faucet...you make special trips to the ocean!! (No WONDER we relocated to the gulf, huh?)
Anyway, I got carried away with gab like I always do sometimes. We were lucky enough to be near the bay park and saw that the ship docked there had a special exhibit of the props and some of the set from the making of the movie Titanic. Naturally we had to see.
Here are some pictures of what I could take (they're not too clear because all the displays were behind or under glass). A couple are of the character, Rose (played by Kate Winslet) and also her mother's garment, and the replica, right down to the Titanic's White Star shipline logo, dinner plate set -- and the blue diamond that Cal (played by Billy Zane) gave Rose as a gift.
It was a thrill. I never got a picture of it that I know of (I went through my San Diego photo album), but I DID get to sit in the same ship's deck chair that Rose sat in when she was looking at Jack Dawson's (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) sketches!! Thrill? Yes, for me it was!!
I still love the love story of the movie. Tho, the real history of the ship's disaster is quite off key according to studies, the love line between Rose and Jack will live forever in the hearts of movie goers!!

Wow! What an awesome thing for you! Don't you just love being transfered back to the past when seeing things like that? I love it!
I'm a sucker for disasters... I'd love to see the real Titanic exhibit, but we didn't go when it was here. cool for you!
I also loved that movie and I saw it several times at the theatre. I bought it too!! I think a lot of people did that! It was great!! I would have loved seeing those things like you did..thanks for sharing them with everyone!!
My mom & sister recently saw the Hope Diamond in Washington, DC and took photos of it.
Your pics are great! I hate worrying with the glass when taking photos at places like this as I always worry they won't turn out, but yours turned out really well.
I loved this post. I have Titianic on video - it's a great movie. It is a blast seeing your photos. Those dresses look like they are really finely tailored. What a great bonus getting to see the display - and sitting on that chair. I love near the ocean myself - I have for much of my life. (and thanks for commenting on my blog as part of the Carnival).
This is my first time with the Blogging Chicks Carnival and I'm enjoying all the blogs. That is so neat that you noticed the ship and got to see the exhibit.
Oh how fun! Thanks for sharing the pictures.
Great pics. Love the Carnival.
Here from the carnival!
Great memory for you...if only I could get to some Star Wars museum.
Hi found you through the carnival.
Our museum had a Titanic exhibit this spring--actual items recovered from it--which surprised me how many emotions seeing these things caused me.
Wow - I really never had a movie I liked that much. Very interesting props you have posted. Really neat :) Thank you for sharing.
I totally understand you wanting to move to the gulf and a very nice place indeed you picked to get away from the desert and the dust.
