I heard Cyndi Lauper's song while shopping (the piped music) yesterday---Girls Just Wanna Have Fun! Remember that one? Oh how I think of the days when it was constantly played - I was soooooooooo sick of it, how I longed for a good pair of ear plugs on many-occasions! *Ha Ha*....Now after yesterday, I must confess, it was fun to listen to it yesterday and I must not lie...I enjoyed it!!!
Then, while driving home I had flashbacks of the fashions of the 80's. The days when our daughter would try to mimic some of the music celebs. (She spent hours upon hours primping in front of the mirror, doing her makeup just right for the night out!)
And I realized, I haven't done any blogging on memories for quite some time. Afterall, that is the reason I began this blog in the first place! I've been so busy trying to keep up with some of the blogrolls I've joined, I failed to actually work on the main concept of my blog!
So, I vowed to put in an entry today about reminiscing. Today, it's fashions of the 1980s. God forbid! It was a wild and untamed culture those days, and the music fashion showed it!!
Remember Madonna? Now SHE WAS the EPITOME of a 'material' girl!!!! I once read that she actually shopped at thrift stores to make her ensembles!
And the male version of Madonna back then, at least I think in these terms, was Boy George!! He was the fashion plate of Madonna style...only a man. And again, I find myself reminiscing of the music styles of the 80's along with the fashion. I really can't say anything bad or sarcastic about this guys voice. And his songs I really liked. His sound was soft, and easy to listen to, I especially like a few like "I'll tumble 4 Ya", and "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?" (not bad, not bad at all)
Then, how 'bout those leg warmers? I think it all came about from the movie hit, "Footloose" perhaps? Yes? No? Well, maybe. But you saw them on every girl around town!!
Oh, and what about those all ever popular, wild and crazy, Parachute Pants? Popularized by the rap singer M C Hammer? Remember those. I always used to secretly think to myself "That's a lotta ball room"....but that's just me! Don't mind me. When the guy, M C Hammer, would step out on stage and the kids when wild...he'd jiggle and jive in those baggy pants and then......"You Can't Touch This"!!!! Actually, I enjoyed this song back then, and still do. It has great rhythm and a hypnotic beat that I can't help myself...I too gotta wiggle and squirm!! (Added note about M C Hammer, he made millions off that song, went bankrupt, and is now a preacher!!!! Hmmmmm, interesting!!)
Mmm-m-m-m-mmmmm --- "Can't touch this!!" Gotta love it! (The song, NOT the parachute pants) Even today.

Lordy, lordy!!! *giggles*
The reference to YOU is the makeup for going out...and as I was typing this, I was thinking of you and your makeup job looking like Boy George, remember?
Okay....we're back. Went down to the city's port (the big bridge D thought we'd have to go across the TOP? Remember?) Anyway, there was a big sailing ship from Columbia coming in and I wanted to catch it! ---But alas, by the time they got to the ship's channel to dock, the sails were down! But there were tons of Columbian sailors on the yard arms!!! Cool. Haven't checked the photos I got yet, hope at least ONE came out good.
Anyway, to answer your question: --It was Loggins. Is his name Kenny(?) Loggins?
