With the movie(s) (starring Tom Cruise) Mission Impossible, Mission Impossible II and now-----Mission Impossible III, I say: when will the movie makers get something new in their minds and stop with the sequels to mega hits?!!--personally I am really tired of Mr. Cruise(golly, I used to think he was cute--hmmmmm, not any more, guess I'm really tired of him) in everything you read and watch on television! His ego and weirdness is too much for me, I'm bored with Tom and need someone new on all forms of media. Just my opinion Yet, I'm reminded of the classic television show of the 1960s early 70s.
It starred Peter Graves, Barbara Bain, Peter Lupus, Leonard Nimoy and others. A government spy thriller! And the music was impressive too.
Sometimes I wish the American people wouldn't be so hyped on the lives of celebrities such as they are today -- (i.e., a race on babies and giving birth on the moon? Get real. And it's not just Tom Cruise...when in time, there'll be another mega hit; then THAT particular celebrity will hit the news stands and television! And yes...even MY favorite, Johnny Depp! His picture is now on a box of Kellog's cereal?!! Oh, just too much! And that is meant not in a good way too much...it's just TOO much hype!). "Commoners" such as myself should really stop to enjoy their OWN lives and not be so intent on who's who in Hollywood while allowing those IN 'Hollywood' to live a quiet peaceful life also! The general public doesn't need to know what kind of baby monitors expectant celebrity parents buy!! Ya know?
I think it all started with Princess Di's death and the media coverage. From then, the 'paparazzi', being in the news itself, started a whole new generated frenzy of the stars!! And this too reminds me of how Hollywood's elite complained that the news media wouldn't leave them alone!--how lawyers took advantage and began law suits! Yet, I recall Arnold Schwarzenegger told them (the reporters and cameramen) to "leave me alone"...yet in just a few weeks afterwards, he then complained that he was being ignored!! Oh my. Poor man.
I for one just use my TV's mute button or turn the page on the paper or magazines any more. It's all money. They all want to sell these people like properties and make profits from them. (and same goes for sonogram machines, baby monitors, etc...the companies for those PRODUCTS see a boom in sales also)
I digress---
Mission Impossible on TV back in the 1960's early 70's was actually pretty good. The story lines were unique each time, there was a lot of action (for back then anyway) and quite intense up to the last minute. Oh for the good ol' days of TV where there was drama without survival series and idol shows and mundane situation comedies that are presently mimicking other situation comedies!!
Sorry, this posting turned into an opinionated comment instead of it's original intent.

i remember the TV Program Mission Impossible. It was a nicer TV series but then it was gone.
Friday's Child...I really like your new profile image!! :o)
chi: Too funny. My hubby couldn't stand watching them either when our kids would switch over...but to be honest, I think the stooges were more 'healthy' to watch than some of these video games our grandsons play!!!
I haven't seen the new mission impossible, but I saw the first two. I agree that the old Mission Impossibles were much better. There was more team-work, and the disquises were fantastic and the story lines unique. It seems that the new ones lack this team work and it's all about Mr. Cruise. That is a shame. This is really true for other films with star names. If you read the books about The Unfortunate Events, the books are all about these children, but because Jim Carrey is the star, it's all about him. Love your blogs.
I haven't seen any of the movies, but I remember the series and it was pretty good.
Yeah, the baby watch thing is getting old....ha.
I totally agree. They cannot compare the remakes to the originals. I remember the old Mission Impossible too.
Same thing with The Thomas crown Affair. The Steve McQueen one was so much better.
I remember Mission Impossible! (TV) I used to watch it all the time. :)
And I am with you 100% on all the publicity hype! Enough with Tom and Angelina and Brad Pitt. Enough of Brittany, Jessica and Lindsay. Ugh.
I used to like Tom as well, but now he's kind of gotten creepy.
